Peristaltic Pump Applications

VECTOR APPLICATIONS
Following is a partial listing of Vector Pump applications.  Please contact us if you have an application for Vector Pumps.

Food: Pasta Factories

Challenge: Inspectors are concerned about contamination if the hose breaks. Our competition uses a food grade oil for hose lubrication, but within 1-2 days the  hose begins to wear (turns black), requiring the customer to change hoses every 2 days.

Fluids Pumped: Egg yolks with whites, milk.

Key Benefits: Lubricating fluids are not required, no chance for contamination.

Who Uses Vector's? Pasta Machine manufacturer's and pasta factories.

Notes: Vector's used in the pasta industry are usually controlled with variable speed drives.

Hose Material: Varprene.

Food: Bread Dough & Fruit Cake Manufacturer's

Challenge: Require semi-accurate metering of viscous products containing solids.

Fluids Pumped: Water & salt mixtures, natural flavorings, fats, fruit cake dough/mixture (i.e. fruit cake has nuts and fruit pieces that need to stay whole).

Key Benefits:

  1. Lubricating fluids are not required, no chance for contamination.
  2. Accurate repeatability provides metering of fluid required.
  3. Can pump hard solids without damaging softer solids.

Who Uses Vector's? Bread & dough machine manufacturer’s, food processing plants.

Hose Material: Silicone, Varprene, PharMed.

Food: Cheese manufacturer's

Challenge: Requires a low sheer pump so fibers in cheese aren't separated.

Fluids Pumped: Cream, milk and yogurt.

Key Benefits:

  1. Vectors can be run dry, which often happens when a tank or vessel is emptied.
  2. Vector pumps do not heat the fluid being pumped.
  3. Reversing pumping action flushes piping.
  4. Seal-less design isn't affected by cheese fibers.
  5. Vectors are easy to clean.
  6. Our pumps can pump air entrained fluids.

Notes: Vectors are operated at low RPM's (20-30) so they don't harm the product.

Who Uses Vector's? Cheese machine manufacturer's and cheese factories.

Hose Materials: Varprene.

Pharmaceutical: Shampoos

Challenge: Eliminate potential for foaming fluid on bottle filling lines. Harsh pumping action of air operated diaphragm pumps can cause the fluid to foam.

Fluid: Shampoos

Key Benefits:

  1. Does not foam the fluid when pumping.
  2. Vectors can be run dry to ensure all fluid is transferred from inlet/discharge lines, minimizing product waste.  Also reduces the amount of cleaning fluid required to properly clean the inlet/discharge lines, decreasing disposal costs.
  3. Vector pumps can pump air entrained fluids.

Sales focus: Shampoo manufacturer's.

Hose Materials: Varprene, silicone.

Notes: Vectors are often mounted on carts and used as "mobile pumping stations".

Pharmaceutical: Cosmetics

Challenge: Recovery of finished product requires dry-running pump.

Fluids: Expensive cosmetics, creams and lotions.

Key Benefits:

  1. Vectors can be run dry to ensure all fluid is transferred from inlet/discharge lines, minimizing product waste.  Also reduces the amount of cleaning fluid required to properly clean the inlet/discharge lines, decreasing disposal costs.
  2. Lubricating fluids are not required, no chance for contamination.
  3. Gentle pumping action does not shear fluid.

Who uses Vectors? Cosmetic Mixer manufacturer's (i.e. supply a pump to empty the mixer) as well as cosmetic and pharmaceutical manufacturer's for transferring viscous fluids and pastes.

Hose materials: PharMed, Varprene, Silicone.

Water Treatment: (Municipal and Industrial)

Challenge: Requires pumping of lime slurries and other non-lubricating, abrasive fluids which can also be viscous.

Fluids: Lime slurries, carbon/H2O mixture, ferric chloride and caustic soda.

Key Benefits:

  1. Seal-less design isn't affected by abrasives and solids entrained in fluid.
  2. Vector's provide accurate metering because the suction line stays full of fluid when the pump is shut off.  (maintains its' prime).
  3. Hoses can be replaced without coming into contact with the pumped fluid.

Who uses Vectors? Municipal and industrial waste water treatment plants.

Hose Materials: Natural Rubber

Pulp & Paper

Challenge: Require pumps that can handle abrasive fluids and provide accurate metering

Fluids: Ink, fluids with abrasives and fibers (a.k.a. white water), adhesives

Key Benefits:

  1. Vector's provide accurate metering because the suction line stays full of fluid when the pump is shut off.  (maintains its' prime).
  2. The hoses can handle abrasives and can pass large or stringy objects.

Who uses Vectors? Pulp & paper mills, box board mills, gypsum mills and paper machine manufacturer's.

Hose Materials: Natural Rubber

Paint

Challenge: Requires pumps that can be run dry, evacuating all the fluid from the inlet, discharge and pumping chamber.  Some paints are abrasive fluids which contain aluminum oxide or quartz.

Fluids Pumped: Shear sensitive latex paint and solvents

Key Benefits:

  1. Vectors are easily cleaned, you can even use different hoses for different colors, minimizing cleaning required.
  2. Our pumps will not damage shear sensitive fluids
  3. The seal-less design of the Vector is unaffected by abrasives
  4. Maximum suction lift capability.

Application: Filling paint pails, totes, trucks and railcars, transferring paint to a process line, reclamation of paint on a coating line.

Who uses Vectors? Paint, ink and dye manufacturer's

Hose Material: Natural Rubber
