Ultra Efficient Pump Systems

Truly a REVOLUTIONARY Pump Drive System that significantly reduces power consumption and eliminates the need for complicated plumbing controls.  Consisting of only a pump, motor and controller, Kadant UnigyTM Pump Systems provide the user with an unprecedented level of control of the pumps performance - without the need for timely, complicated programming.  It is  "Plug-n-Play"! UnigyTM - Defining Energy Efficiency
UnigyTM was developed in coordination with the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) as a way to drastically increase the pumping efficiency of hydraulic systems.  A typical intermittent duty pump system having an average demand of 4,700 watts can be reduced by 94% to just 250 watts because energy is only used as flow is needed.  It wasn't long before this technology was applied to industrial pumping systems, both for increased manufacturing efficiency and increased control over the pump system.

Control Control Control
The Unique UnigyTM System is comprised of a positive displacement pump, a motor, and encoder and keypad drive.  While this may look like a typical variable frequency drive (VFD), the level of control that it provides its' user is unobtainable with any other system.  Whereas a VFD regulates the pump shaft speed (displacement) by changing the electrical signal sent to the motor, UnigyTM pump systems use the MCSA of the pump with a sophisticated feed forward algorithm to control the performance of the pump.  Here's a PDF file Explaining this in more detail.

Your typical VFD is a generic drive that the user must program to the pump specifications.  Depending upon your programming skills, it is possible to achieve a high degree of control of a pump system, provided that you have the necessary controls providing input to the VFD.  It is the programming and those excess controls that can be eliminated with a UnigyTM pump system. See a Comparison to a VFD Metering System
