Spray drying requires special spray nozzles. We manufacture both single and two fluid atomizing nozzles for spray drying applications.

Using spray drying, powders can be produced efficiently from suspensions.  Spraying technology offers enormous advantages for mixing, agglomerating and coating.  Spray drying applications are found in the chemical and agricultural industries in addition to the mineral oil, plastics processing, flavors/fragrances, food, detergent, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.

Hollow cone spray nozzles are used for most spray drying applications.   The spraying of abrasive media requires manufacturing nozzles that are resistant to both chemical and erosive wear.  Our hollow cone spray nozzles are used for spraying a variety of liquids at pressures up to 7000 PSI.  Our hollow cone spray drying nozzles are designed to resist clogging and to produce a small grain size (short drying times).

Coating applications that use low viscosity fluids can be atomized with two fluid external atomizing nozzles.  Our two fluid atomizing spray drying nozzles enable you to adjust the flow rate, droplet size and spray pattern.  Our spray drying nozzles are designed with large liquid free passages, exchangeable spray tips and narrow full cone spray patterns.

Both single and two fluid designs are available in either nozzle or "lance" form. Just as they do with gas cooling and conditioning applications, We can model the spray nozzles’ plume and use that information to advise which nozzles to use and where they should be placed. CIP (Clean In Place) nozzle systems are being asked for more frequently and our Tank/Vessel Washing Nozzles can be used to do effective cleaning with minimal fluid usage.

You may also want to consider using Ultrasonic Spray Nozzles for pharmaceutical spray drying.  These low flow rate, low velocity (3-5 inches per second) spray nozzles provide consistent, repeatable droplet sizes ideal for R&D applications.
