Nucor to process more steel by rolling larger billets at faster speeds

Nucor Steel of Norfolk, Nebraska produces larger billet sizes in its' hot mill thanks in part to our  customized descaling system. A leader in fluid application engineering for the steel industry, the comprehensive descaling system includes Mini-SCALEMASTER nozzles, headers, an enclosure box, and a skid-mounted control package.  This descaling system was designed in conjunction with other hot mill upgrades. When complete, these upgrades allow Nucor to process more steel by rolling larger billets at faster speeds.

Nucor came to us with a clear concept of what they wanted in a descaling system and provided us with the freedom to customize the design. A team of five individuals worked closely together to design, build and deliver the complete system in just six months. With this new descaling system, Nucor has the ability and flexibility to better serve the structural steel market. Our customized system uses high-pressure water emission to mechanically remove scale from the billets. The Mini-SCALEMASTER nozzles used have a highly focused spray pattern, resulting in superior spray impact and efficient scale removal. This system illustrates one of the many types of customized spraying systems that we have supplied to the North American steel industry.

We have enjoyed  a enjoyed a mutually beneficial business relationship with Nucor for more than 15 years. Working directly with the individual Nucor mills, we have helped upgrade descaling, roll cooling, blow-off, and other fluid application operations. Our two companies are continually working together to improve fluid application practices and optimize steel production.
